Hey there! We’ve received a few questions about why their DM Mid-Drive Motor’s display’s battery display doesn’t always match the actual battery charge.
For example, you might see your battery is fully charged (100%), but the display only shows 75%, so we wanted to share a quick tip to help you get the best ride possible.
What Should You Do?
To get the most precise battery reading possible:
Check Your Battery Specs: Look at your battery’s voltage and capacity information (often found on the battery label or in its manual).
Manually Adjust Motor Settings: Use our reference table below to set the correct voltage parameters in your motor’s display settings. This helps the display better match your battery’s actual usage.
Standard Voltage | 25.2 | 36 | 46.8 | 50.4 | 54 | 57.6 | 61.2 | |
Low Cut Voltage | 3.0 | 30 | 39 | 42 | 45 | 48 | 51 | |
Power | Single | 7 Strings | 10 Strings | 13 Strings | 14 Strings | 15 Strings | 16 Strings | 17 Strings |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
100% | 4.2 | 29.4 | 42.0 | 54.6 | 58.8 | 63.0 | 67.2 | 71.4 |
90% | 4.06 | 28.4 | 40.6 | 52.8 | 56.8 | 60.9 | 65.0 | 69.0 |
80% | 3.98 | 27.9 | 39.8 | 51.7 | 55.7 | 59.7 | 63.7 | 67.7 |
70% | 3.92 | 27.4 | 39.2 | 51.0 | 54.9 | 58.8 | 62.7 | 66.6 |
60% | 3.87 | 27.1 | 38.7 | 50.3 | 54.2 | 58.1 | 61.9 | 65.8 |
50% | 3.82 | 26.7 | 38.2 | 49.7 | 53.5 | 57.3 | 61.1 | 64.9 |
40% | 3.79 | 26.5 | 37.9 | 49.3 | 53.1 | 56.9 | 60.6 | 64.4 |
30% | 3.77 | 26.4 | 37.7 | 49.0 | 52.8 | 56.6 | 60.3 | 64.1 |
20% | 3.74 | 26.2 | 37.4 | 48.6 | 52.4 | 56.1 | 59.8 | 63.6 |
10% | 3.68 | 25.8 | 36.8 | 47.8 | 51.5 | 55.2 | 58.9 | 62.6 |
5% | 3.45 | 24.2 | 34.5 | 44.9 | 48.3 | 51.8 | 55.2 | 58.7 |
0% | 3.00 | 21.0 | 30.0 | 39.0 | 42.0 | 45.0 | 48.0 | 51.0 |
Even after adjustment, the display may not be 100% accurate, but it will be much closer to your real battery status.
Why Does This Happen?
No Common Communication Protocol: Our DM Mid-Drive Motors are designed to work with a wide range of batteries on the market. However, there isn’t a universal communication protocol between the motor and every battery brand.
This means the motor’s display can’t always “talk” directly to your battery to get a perfectly accurate reading.
